A brief preview on my visit to Dakhineswar Kali Temple

Dakshineshwar Kali temple which is now a century and a half old, is the most famous temple of India having its roots from early 1800s was built by Rani Rashmoni in 1847 following a dream of her husband who died with unfulfilled wish of building a Kali temple when she was to start her pilgrimage to Benaras. The marvellous temple situated in the Hoogli district on the banks of the sacred Ganges which was once under the grip of British rule, is now one of the famous place for british tourists itself.

This temple became popular when the greatest spiritual leader of all times Ramakrishna Paramahamsa started worshipping the gods .Rani Rashmoni purchased the land from the loanowner Mr. Hasti, and dutifully began constructing the temple without any discouragement of how much time it will take to build the temple and finally it took 8 years to build the unique temple at an estimated cost of 9 lakhs incurred on the temple. The kali temple, built in unique traingular style, is 46 (forty six) feet square, with temple and its adjoining areas stand on 25 acres of land the height going over hundred feet high has more lenght than width is standing on a high base build in 1800s with a line of stairs. It is said that “the temple is one of the largest temple of kolkata and is one of the unique architectural masterpiece of all times.

The spirituality and devotion to godess kali of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa attracted a large number of people not only from India but also from all round the world. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was a great spiritual preacher who was considered an incarnation of god by many of his disciples and followers, and is considered as such by many of his devotees today also in this modern world . The pure Ganga flows from beside the temple with immense pureness. The whole temple is build so beautifully that we can see to the east there are twelve Shiv temples and seeing towards the north is a Radha-Krishna temple. A sort of courtyard can be seen behind the Shiv temple. Here stands the main temple of the Goddess Kali who is worshipped everyday, with ceremonial elegance and pureness which can be characterized by strong enthusiasm and devotion of people as well as priest there offering ceremonies to godess kali.

Even now, we take the blessings of Maa-Kali from Dakshineshwar for having any distress in life, any problem of mental agonies and anxieties or for any family criticalities to get solutions and successful achievements in fulfilling the dreams of our parents by the touch of her auspicious Pujas with pure and divine heart. It is a sure visit attraction for everyperson who visits Kolkata for a day or two.Last but not the least, i truly think ,feel and believe that it will touche everybody's heart when you once visit the temple. Its a sure you will second time also.
